Selecting the Start Menu will show you “Suggested” applications that you might like. What does that really mean? Someone paid Microsoft to place that suggestion in your face whether or not you asked for it. The software may have nothing to do with your interests, and wants, and trust me – Microsoft knows more about your interests than you think they do. Now I don’t know if this is as prevalent as I heard considering that I didn’t keep my Windows 11 Pro on my computer long enough to really see any ads, but if it is as bad as I expect, it should not be the case.
So what can Microsoft do to fix this? Well maybe quit leasing your space on your computer to other companies. You paid for the OS? when you bought the computer. It should be yours to decide how to use it. However, this might change as Microsoft is considering making Windows a service (like MS 365). If this happens, you will not be able to own the Windows copy that is on your computer. I am also sure that the computer manufacturers will not give you a discount when this happens, so you would still be paying for an OS that is not yours.
